I have noted this in local supermarkets, and I am sure you also have observed a change in the shopping trend. The trendy steel or iron made shopping carts are now being replaced with plastic shopping basket which comes with a plastic handle. I was wondering, and I am sure you would have been wondering why this trend has changed as of last decade. There are multiple reasons that people these days are trying to switch towards using a plastic shopping basket. I want to add few points here in the following.

1- Durable Design

Although the shopping basket is made up of plastic, still the manufacturers are making these baskets in such style that they are durable. Unlike a streel basket, the plastic shopping basket will not deform unless you smash in the wall or forcefully bend it. These baskets come with a plastic handle, and they do have a wall on the underneath side, so the material of the basket won' t be buckled due to the weight of the carrying materials. The basket has designed in such a way that it doesn' t spoil the material in itself. The plastic shopping basket is made in such a way that they are easy to carry and also don' t get tangled with other baskets.

Biggest of many advantages that plastic basket has over the traditional trolleys is that it doesn' t rust. You can leave the basket in any environment, rain, dust or any other same weather and unlike a steel basket, it won' t catch rust or have quality issues.

3- Lightweight Design

This advantage is undoubtedly for older adults. Plastic baskets are very lighter than steel baskets due to their structure and design. Being lighter in weight makes them very easy to carry around in the supermarket, and this is very helpful for older customers.

You may have faced a scenario while shopping is that your steel basket when filled with materials if gets accidently hit to another customer, it usually causes injuries. However; as plastic shopping baskets are lighter, they don' t cause any severe damage or hurt any other customer if it gets hit by mistake.

4- Low Stealing Ratio

 This advantage is related to the store owners. In different news, you may have heard that steal baskets get stolen from superstores daily. That is because the resale value of steal is very higher in any part of the world. Small thieves steal the steel so they can resale them in the scrap market to get good money. However; it is not same when it comes to the plastic shopping basket, their material has no resale value, so this is the reason the stealing ratio of plastic baskets are very minimal so the shop owners can invest in them and can purchase them in bulk.

There are other multiple reasons as well to select plastic shopping baskets, but I should mention here that not only they have plastic handles, these days they are also equipped with a plastic cover making them more convenient to use.
